Moving into a new home is an exciting time, full of hope and possibility. Yet there’s no doubt about it – the process of packing and physically moving all of your belongings can be a stressful experience as well.
Here are 3 helpful hacks from moving.com (that I wish I’d known about when I moved!) to help simplify your move.
Call your utility companies early on.
Many people think calling their utility companies is one of the last things they should do, but it’s also easy to forget when you’re in the middle of your move. This is a task you can cross off your list as soon as you know your new address and moving dates.
Label Every. Single. Box.
It might seem like a pain when packing, but writing what’s in your boxes will save you a lot of time and hassle when you’re unpacking. Better yet (if you’re really organized) – take a picture of what’s in the box and tape it to the outside.
Pack a “moving essentials” bag.
Pack a bag with the odds and ends you’ll need as soon as you get to your new place. Things like important documents and phone numbers, medications, chargers, scissors, toilet paper, and paper towels will all come in handy when you’re trying to move in, but they can also be hard to find if packed into boxes
