ChangeSaver™ – A New Automatic Way to Save!

ChangeSaver™ is an easy, free way for our personal checking customers to save a little at a time. All you need to sign up is a personal checking account with a debit card, and a savings account.

  • You will be able to “round up” each debit card purchase to the nearest dollar, with the round-up amount automatically transferred into their savings account.
  • Or, you can make your savings grow even faster by instead choosing to add either $1 or $2 to your savings each time you use your debit card!
  • Better yet, Bell State Bank & Trust will match 5% of ChangeSaver round-ups annually – up to $250 a year!
  • To enroll in our new ChangeSaver savings program, simply call our customer service department at 701-298-1550 or toll-free 800-450-8949, or stop by any Bell State Bank & Trust location.

Change saver sounds good – but why can’t we sign up on line rather than make a trip or phone call?
    Thanks!

    Carole,
Online sign-up is currently not available, but we are hoping to add that option in the future. Right now, a phone call is a quick way to sign up, and a real person always answers the phone!

I love the new ChangeSaver program! There is only one thing that could make it slightly better. Could it be updated to work on all withdrawls, including bill pay and checks?

  • Bell State Bank & Trust on Mar 28, 2012 at 9:11 am #

Mindy, we love that you love ChangeSaver™! Currently, our customers are able to “round up” each debit card purchase to the nearest dollar, or add $1 or $2 to each debit card purchase. We hope you enjoy the convenience of using your debit card, while easily growing your savings.

I think this is great and I just signed up but am wondering why I can’t sign up both of my checking accounts? My husband has one and I have one and we both can sign on either one but was told I could only do one checking account. We each got the mailing mailed to us so I guess I assumed we would both be elegible. Thank you for your time.

    Kristen,

Thank you for your question. You are able to sign up as many checking accounts as you wish, however, there can only be one checking account attached to one savings account. The easiest way to take advantage of this is to either stop at one of our branches, and they can help you set up a savings account, or set up one online! That way, each checking account can be earning the Change Saver rewards!

Thank you for choosing State Bank & Trust. We appreciate your business!

I am interested in this, but we do not have a savings account with you. Where would the funds go from changesaver without a savings account?

  • Bell State Bank & Trust on Apr 2, 2012 at 3:11 pm #

    Rob,

Thanks for your question! To enroll in ChangeSaver, you will need a Bell State Bank & Trust personal checking account (with a debit card) and a Bell State Bank & Trust savings account. Visit our Change Saver Frequently Asked Questions page or call 701-298-1550 for more information on the Change Saver program.

I did not get what you mean by 5% match? Will you deposit 5% of what I have saved in my account?

  • Bell State Bank & Trust on Apr 3, 2012 at 9:08 am #

Bon, thanks for your question! We will match 5% of what is deposited from the Change Saver program into your savings account. For example, if your Change Saver deposits come out to be $600, we will deposit $30, which is 5% on December 31.

What is the minimum you have to have in a savings account to open one. We currently do not have one but have been thinking about opening one. The Changesaver program sounds good to me.

  • Bell State Bank & Trust on Apr 5, 2012 at 2:03 pm #

    Betty,

Our regular savings account has a low minimum balance of just $50. You can open an account online, call our customer service department at 298.1550, or stop by any Bell State Bank & Trust location. Thanks for your interest in ChangeSaver!

If I start the Changesaver program rounding up to the nearest dollar, but decide I want to change to the $1 or $2 option, can that be done?

  • Bell State Bank & Trust on Apr 9, 2012 at 8:27 am #

    Diane,

Yes! Just call 701-298-1550, or stop by one of our locations to make this change. This update will take effect within 48 hours.

I have a VIP checking account that I use as a savings account. Can I have my Changesaver linked to this rather than a “savings” account?

  • Bell State Bank & Trust on May 3, 2012 at 8:42 am #

    Shannon,

The ChangeSaver program only works with a savings account product. Please contact our customer service center at 298-1550, or apply online for a savings account, and we can help you choose which savings account would work best for you!

I applied for an online savings account, was given an application number, advised to complete in 30 days and now cannot find where I can go back to retrieve that number and finish my application. Please advise

  • Bell State Bank & Trust on Nov 19, 2012 at 9:47 am #

Thank you for your question. You can go to http://www.bellbanks.com and select the “apply online” button (This button is found on the bottom right-hand side of the website homepage). After clicking on the “apply online” button, the page that comes up will have a “return to application” button on the top right-hand corner of the page. Or, if you have the email we sent with the confirmation number, you can click the hyperlink in the email to bring you to the same page. If you need additional assistance, please call our Customer Service Center at 701-298-1550.
