You are the first line of defense in protecting your identity. That’s why we are encouraging you to gather unneeded and outdated personal documents and safely dispose of them.

This Saturday is Secure Your ID Day. This is a day where everyone is encouraged to shred their unwanted personal documents. According to the Better Business Bureau, “Fifty-six percent of identity theft victims traced the theft to something that was stolen from their own possession.” Shredding personal documents and information is just one way to avoid becoming a victim.

View the Better Business Bureaus’ suggested Records Retention Schedule to see how long you should keep your personal information before shredding.
