Rick Steckler Named "Outstanding Citizen of the Year"
Rick Steckler, president of Bell State Bank & Trust in Wahpeton, was named the “Outstanding Citizen of the Year” on March 20, 2012, by the Wahpeton-Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce. This is the top individual award given annually by the Chamber.
Rick was surprised with his award at a dinner Tuesday evening. His family and members of the Bell State Bank & Trust family joined him when the award was announced.
Rick has been heavily involved in the Wahpeton-Breckenridge community for the past 30 years. He was a president and campaign chairman of the United Way of Richland – Wilkin, served as treasurer of the “Lend a Helping Hand” flood recovery center, and was president of the West Central Minnesota Initiative Fund. Currently, Rick serves as president of both the Wahpeton Community Development Corporation and of the NDSCS Alumni Foundation. He is a member of the Breckenridge/Wahpeton Kiwanis Club and the Breckenridge Lions Club. He is also a member of St. Mary’s Church and serves on the parish council. He is on the advisory committee for the Wahpeton/Breckenridge Community Foundation and treasurer of the Wahpeton Alumni Future Farmers of America. In his “spare time,” Rick is an NDSU Teammaker and Bison fan, an avid golfer and a Twins and Vikings fan. Rick and his wife, Millie, have three children: Ryan, 22; Sierra, 18; and Abby, 12.
Please join us in congratulating Rick, our Outstanding Citizen, on this great honor!
